Fawning Over: 1970s Wide Leg Flare Jeans

Could this really be happening? Could I actually be in love with jeans that aren’t skinny?

Ever since Paris Fashion Week, there seems to be a resurgence in 1970s style including denim, fringe, and flowy tops. I remember a time growing up where I hated skinny jeans (aka as the dreaded tapered jean) and rocked bellbottoms, especially those with embroidered embellishments. I thought I was a born again hippie and even wore a flower crown that I skillfully made one day after a successful trip to Michaels. But like all fashion trends, the pendulum swung back from those loose, flared legs to an updated, rebranded tapered jean and let me tell you, those marketers did their job right. I was hooked on this cool, “new” style and forgot all about my retro jeans.

But as Bob Dylan once sang, “the times they are a changing”- and like waves that were once pulled back into deep waters, I am crashing back hard onto that wide leg jean beach.

  1. I like all of these. The flare is there but not too overpowering like I remember some of my old jeans to be 🙂
